A great book to read after you have read the others. This book explains how you do not need to buy all of the scientific instruments from your local brew store, you don’t even need to buy their yeast! Just use what you have around you, there is yeast everywhere. I learnt a lot reading this after reading the other two industry leading books. I can now see the value of making mead outside of a small science lab and rather how nature intended. Some of the methods in this book are a little to out there for me at the moment so I will just keep on making my mead and experimenting.

I have a lot of praise for this book. I have been making mead for about a year and a half, and have scored well in local competition. I wanted to add to my references on the topic, and I am glad I read this book. Really nice info about my Scandinavian history and cultural items in here, drinking games and customs along with good recipes. Great reading on just how simple it is by a guy I’d drink in a mead hall with. Skál i botn!

Simply put its a great book if you’re looking to learn how to wild ferment mead. If bottling is your style, there’s some, but not a lot of bottling techniques shown. Overall it’s informative and has some great recipes.
