Mr Beer Is So Kool, July 20, 2015

Making beer for the first time is as simple as making breakfast. I looked at the videos online at YouTube for awhile and decided to take a leap of faith in the beer making world. Let me tell you guys, Mr Beer from Amazon made it happen. I brewed my first batch today. Now its time to wait at least 14 days before bottling and carbonation. I bought a spigot wand and a stick-on fermentation thermometer from a local Brew House supply store for cheap. I tested it out and it works great. The guy even cut me off a small piece of flexible hose for free. Once I master this kit, I will move on to making my own recipes using the Mr Beer fermentation keg. I also ordered a refill American Ale HME and a case of Mr Beer 1/2 liter bottles. It only came with 8 caps for 16 bottles. I called Mr Beer corporate office and spoke with a gentleman. I gave him my name, address and the products that I had just bought from Amazon and he sent me out 12 more for free caps today. Talk about Mr Beer customer service. WOW! So far I am pleased with my kit. I’ll keep you all updated once I crack open a bottle and have a sip.

Super easy for a beginner. I moved on to a more complex homebrew kit after two batches with this. Kind of like the ‘easy bake oven’ of brewing, but the beer turned out good and the bottles are great, I use them with my current set up. Recommend if you want to get into homebrewing without spending a ton of money just to try it out. The lager was delicious.

The concept is cool. However, when I opened the box the items were covered in dust also the malt was expired by 5 months. Brand new to me means brand new, not sitting in a warehouse trying to sell out the old inventory you have.
