Polar Ware Economy Stainless Steel Brewing Pot, 5 Gallon

This economical 5-gallon stainless steel pot works well for extract brewing and is an affordable option for brewer who’s just getting started with this hobby. Size allows you to add more water to your boil and still have room to catch messy boil overs before they happen.

If you’re new to home brewing, like I was when I purchased this pot, then this a great product to start with: it’s the right price and will do the job to help you brew a 5 gallon batch of beer. Brew pots can be very expensive, so there’s no reason for newbies spend hundreds of dollars on hardware they’re not sure they’re going to use. I’ve been through several cooks with this pot and it still holds up. The pot does feel flimsy and of lower quality when compared to better, more expensive pots. My main concern, however, is where the handles are attached on the inside of the pot: The handle anchors are not flush with the inside of the pot, with a little bit of space that could allow material to get stuck which could potentially lead to contamination if not cleaned thoroughly.

This brew pot works great. I’ve used it several times to brew my partial mashes with great results. The pot has held its shape and is easy to clean.

Regarding another reviewer mentioning that the bottom is thin and that his wort scorched: completely false. The bottom is fine; scorching your wort is a user error and not a result of using this pot. You are to remove the pot from the heat before adding any extract and you are supposed to slowly stir your wort when adding the extract. Following these simple instructions results in wort that is never scorched.

I’d easily buy this pot again and recommend it highly.

Great Brew Pot, February 7, 2014

This brewing pot was a little more expensive than others that were listed. But one negative comment that kept recurring with the cheaper pots was that they were flimsy. I am happy to report the extra few dollars paid off and this pot is great. It feels solid, well made and has already been used multiple times. It should last me many more brews.
