A delight! This Bavarian is golden blond and cloudy, with classic banana and clove phenols from the yeast wrapped up with bready wheat flavors. Serve in a tall glass with a slice of orange. Want that traditional cloudy appearance? Serve it mit hefe (“with yeast”) by swirling the bottle with a a little remaining in it to make sure you get all the flavorful yeast. Prost!

Exceptional Hefeweizen, July 11, 2012

This is the second batch of “True Brew” beer that we’ve made. We personally like a good wheat beer so we thought we’d make our own. It turned out incredible. If you follow the instructions exactly as written you can’t go wrong. Just make sure that the yeast is not expired, which happened once before. I have to say that this batch equals or beats some of the best wheat beers we’ve ever had.

Straight foreword kit. Carboy to keg in 8 days. Aged 2 weeks. Carbonated with CO2, no sugar. Nice banana nut wheat flavor, smooth, clean finish. A good beer! Would buy again.

Good but Hoppy, September 28, 2013

This is a good Hefeweizen brew but comes out a bit hoppy in the end. I like hoppy so that is not a concern for me but anyone not expecting the hoppiness of this beer may be disappointing. The smell is very comparable to commercially produced Hefeweizen and the color at finish is a bit lighter than you will see when cooking the wort. This kit is designed to boil 1.5 gallons of water and mix in 3.5 gallons later which allows you to cool the wort very rapidly. Overall a good color, smell, head, and taste after 1 week primary bucket fermentation and 3 weeks bottling carbonation.
